SACI’s main building, the historic Palazzo dei Cartelloni, was built on the foundations of the houses where Francesco Del Giocondo once lived. Many scholars believe that Leonardo's Mona Lisa is a portrait of Francesco's wife.
A 30th-Anniversary Event Celebrating SACI’s Artists, Alumni, & Advocates
On Wednesday, June 13, 2007 in New York City, SACI alumni, their parents, and other distinguished guests were invited to honor the artistic and philanthropic contributions of Armand P. Arman and Corice Arman and to view a special collection of artworks contributed by members of SACI’s Artists Council, faculty, and alumni. The event was hosted by the prestigious Salander O’Reilly Gallery and raised funds for SACI’s Scholarship and Conservation programs.
Armand P. Arman (1928-2005) was a world-renowned painter and sculptor who, with his wife Corice and SACI founder Jules Maidoff, created SACI’s Artists Council. Members of the Artists Council, who are among the premier artists of our time, volunteer their efforts to advocate and promote arts education. They include: Roberto Barni, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Audrey Flack, Jill Furmanovsky, Ralph Gibson, Bryan Hunt, Peter Hutchinson, Simonetta Moro, Philip Pearlstein, Beverly Pepper, Roger Phillips, Edward Povey, Rocha da Silva, Amalie R. Rothschild, Storm Thorgerson, Rick Valicenti and Ben Vereen.
The event featured a reception at the elegant Salander O’Reilly Gallery on New York’s Upper East Side and an exhibition and sale of works by SACI’s Artists Council members, faculty, alumni, and Jules Maidoff. A special tribute to Armand Arman was offered in recognition of his talent and his devotion to arts education and SACI.
