Nicholas Wynia is a freelance photographer living in Iowa City. His work has been exhibited in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. He attended SACI in 2002 and later worked there as a teaching assistant. He is a Fulbright Scholar.

Artist's Statement
"I photograph to be present. I challenge myself to stand in the moment and both filter and express emotion while confronting subject matter. Photography demands presence --presence while sifting through belongings left behind after a 500-year-flood in Iowa, while observing the interactions between the elite and the working classes at a Lima bullfight, or while coming under gunfire during the recent coup in Honduras."
